WRITING IS HEALING

These are just thoughts of mine that work for me, and l’d like to share them with you. If we don’t face issues buried deep inside of us, it just doesn’t go away because you want it to. To think you’ve buried some trauma because it is too painful to face, too often it means it will show it’s nasty face in other devious ways. We might be totally unaware that this is happening and it could have devastating effects. It could show up in wrong places such as unexplained anger, misdirected anger at those we care about and even in our dreams that baffle us. A free-floating anxiety could be a result of repressed emotions.

Yes, call it psycho-babble if you want, but try to look at it more carefully. Do you feel a great deal of anger or edginess that you can’t explain. We all do from time to time, but usually it is a bookmark that says stop, back up and examine it. There is usually always a reason for the anxiety even though we can’t recall it. Sometimes a scent, a touch, a sound might be pressing buttons of a past pain or even a future event you fear facing. One must do self-exploration or, if too difficult to face, see a therapist. It is understandable if you are unable to relive a trauma on your own.
But I recommend keeping a journal. Write to your heart’s content. You may never hit on answers to issues within yourself, but you might find a release. I find writing a healing process.

When l’m writing on a regular basis, I find it therapeutic to delve into my unconscious where stress is relieved even without my conscious permission. Tough as it might be, it does have a healing effect on me. Try it. Try to face fears that have driven inexplicable behavior that might not have had a good result. Get into a new habit that just might produce uplifting feelings.
